The Best Dance Shoes for Men: Ballroom & Latin

Men’s dance shoes are underserved almost everywhere — but the right pair matters just as much as it does for followers. Here’s how we recommend men’s ballroom and Latin shoes at our Ottawa and Montréal showrooms, by the dancer you are.

What to look for in a men’s dance shoe

A men’s dance shoe needs a secure, snug fit, a flexible suede sole for grip-with-slide, and the right heel for the style: a low, stable heel (about 1″) for Standard ballroom, and a slightly higher Cuban heel (around 1.5–2″) for Latin to bring your weight forward. See our heel-height guide.

Best for ballroom / Standard

For Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango and Quickstep, choose a closed, low-heeled Standard shoe that keeps you grounded through travelling figures. Browse men’s ballroom & Latin shoes.

Best for Latin and salsa

For Cha-Cha, Rumba, salsa and bachata, a Cuban-heeled Latin shoe shifts your weight onto the ball of the foot where Latin technique lives. See men’s Latin dance shoes.

Best value

BD Dance is our go-to for men’s shoes that deliver professional construction at an accessible price — across Standard, Latin and practice.

Getting the size right

Men’s dance shoes fit closer than street shoes — most dancers go a half to a full size down. Check our fit & sizing guide and size chart, and if you have a wider or higher-volume foot, see wide-fit dance shoes. Unsure? Book a fitting in Ottawa or Montréal.
